Red Barn or BoothBay Blue? Exterior Inspiration

*Update!  The house is painted!  Check it out here.*

Finally, after living here for 5 years, the exterior of our house will be done!  New siding and windows were installed last fall, and the painter is coming Tuesday!  We had a big discussion about house colors on Facebook last week, and hubby and I have made our decision.  But just for fun, I want to show you some inspiration pictures for our top two color choices.

But first, here are two “in progress” pictures of our house…

And Option #2: Boothbay Blue
This is a James Hardie Siding color that Sherwin Williams has in their system.

The painter comes Tuesday and maybe later this week I’ll reveal what color we chose! So which would you choose?

  1. Love the look of each of the Booth Bay Blue homes - very warm and inviting. I also think the Red Barn would look nice - but the blue is really speaking to me.

  2. I love the blue! But if you choose the red, I think that will look wonderful as well. :)

  3. I think either would be nice but I'm kind of leaning towards blue! Choosing a house color is such a hard job - and I guess that is why we've always went with class farmhouse white...

  4. I love old Cape Cod blue, but would you like it better with a bit of gray accents?

  6. I'm voting red! Can't wait to hear what you choose. You can't lose with either.

  7. I love both! My house in Charleston was that red and my house here in Minnesota is blue so I am no help! I do think the blue fades a bit better than the red as our house was starting to look a little pink in Charleston! Can't wait to see what you do!

  8. I have to keep reading to find out what color you picked. But Red Barn @ Sherman Williams @ 125% saturation is one of my favorite colors of all time. I've used it for dining rooms and furniture. Love it love it love it!
